As a Senior Product Engineer, Tech Lead, you’ll lead an engineering pod, run client discovery to scope the right solution, and build production software (including agentic AI workflows) end-to-end, hands-on across the stack.
Job Description
The Senior Product Engineer, Tech Lead is a hands-on technical leader who drives delivery for a pod of engineers building mobile applications, web platforms, APIs, and administrative tools. You’ll run discovery calls with clients to surface the real problem and scope the solution, own the technical direction of your pod, write code alongside the team, partner closely with Product and Design, and build agentic AI workflows into the products you ship. This role is for engineers who want to lead by shipping, not by stepping away from the keyboard.
Key Responsibilities
Client Discovery & Solution Scoping
- Run discovery calls and working sessions with client stakeholders to surface pain points, goals, and constraints
- Map user journeys and existing workflows to identify where automation and AI create the most leverage
- Translate business requirements into clear technical scope: solution blueprints, proof-of-concept outlines, and delivery approaches
- Define success metrics and acceptance criteria with clients before build begins
Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Serve as the technical lead for an engineering pod delivering mobile applications, web platforms, APIs, and administrative tools
- Contribute directly to software development, architecture, and implementation across client and internal projects
- Drive technical execution by breaking down requirements, defining implementation strategies, and ensuring successful delivery
- Lead architectural discussions and make pragmatic technical decisions that balance speed, scalability, and maintainability
- Review code, provide technical feedback, and uphold engineering quality standards across the pod
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks early and drive resolution
AI-Native & Agentic Delivery
- Design and build agentic workflows and AI-powered features as core product deliverables, not just internal accelerants
- Architect LLM-backed systems: RAG pipelines, tool-calling agents, orchestration, and evaluation/guardrail layers
- Use AI tools and agents across the full lifecycle: architecture, code generation, testing, debugging, and documentation
- Identify where AI meaningfully changes what a client’s product can do, and scope those opportunities during discovery
- Establish testing and evaluation protocols for AI outputs, and iterate based on real usage and analytics
- Share effective AI-native practices and reusable patterns with engineers across the organization
Qualifications
- 6-10 years of experience building production software across the full stack
- Proven experience shipping mobile applications (iOS, Android, or cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter)
- Strong backend skills with modern languages and frameworks (Python/Django, Node.js, Go, or similar) and experience designing APIs and integrations
- Solid front-end experience with React, TypeScript, and modern web tooling
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines
- Demonstrated ability to lead a small engineering team, run code reviews, and set technical direction
- Track record of using AI coding tools and agentic workflows in real product work, not just demos
- Experience running client-facing discovery, scoping, or solutioning conversations and translating them into technical plans
- Hands-on experience building agentic workflows or LLM features (RAG, tool-use agents, evaluation pipelines) in production, not just prototypes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for product, design, and client stakeholders
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience as a tech lead, staff engineer, or senior engineer with leadership responsibilities
- Native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) experience in addition to cross-platform frameworks
- Experience with mobile release pipelines, app store submissions, and post-launch monitoring
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi)
- Understanding of security and compliance best practices in mobile and cloud environments
- Comfort working in agency or consulting environments with multiple concurrent client engagements
